Playroom:
Wildlife
Welcome to our fantastic Wildlife playroom where we have created an inspirational and motivating playroom, filled with fun and educational resources and activities, to provide extensive child led opportunities for children to find their sense of adventure, make friends and learn through play. The children particularly enjoy running free across our large outdoor area and forest school.
We are incredibly proud of Niamh, our Qualified Early Education Lead, who gives all the children that extra head start. We can confidently say that our Wildlife children really do get the very best start ready for school and we are very proud of all of our happy, talented and confident children. We have highly qualified and consistent staff within the room, who all work in unison to ensure a caring, fun filled and exciting environment for children to grow. Practitioners match learning experiences to children’s stages of development and take account of their interests when planning new activities, to enhance the curriculum and develop children’s knowledge of the wider world.
Within Wildlife children can easily transition from one activity to the other, including the following areas: Role Play, Dressing Up, Music, ICT, Sports, Science, Investigation, Discovery, Construction, Creative, Small World, Transport, Sensory, Mathematics, or relax in the Cosy Book Corner. They have access to the garden and go out at every available opportunity.
Within the Wildlife playroom we operate through the medium of English, but the children are given numerous opportunities throughout the day to learn Welsh words and phrases through songs, looking at the weather, counting, games, group time, mealtimes and much more. The children are given opportunities to use British sign language throughout the day to promote their language development.
Within the Wildlife playroom we promote the PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) programme, which is a social and emotional learning program that helps children develop skills for making positive choices and helps all children to recognise basic emotions and support their emotional development.
We provide a high standard of care and learning through the Curriculum for Wales and the Play work principles.
Within this Playroom we also provide:
The Childcare Offer for Wales: Where eligible parents/carers can claim up to 20 hours of funded childcare in Wales during term time for up to 48 weeks of the year. This increases to 30 hours of funded childcare for up to eight weeks of the school holidays.
Nursery Education: Where eligible parents/carers can claim 3-year-old funding within the Wildlife room up to 10 hours per week during term time.
If parents/carers are eligible and claim for the Childcare Offer and Nursery Education, parents/carers can claim a combined 30 hours of funded childcare within the Golden Manor per week. (Please contact us for more information).
The playroom has easy access to outdoors and benefits from its own under cover decking area outside with sand and water play, large construction, plant care area, a mud kitchen and a role play kitchen. The flooring is compromised by non-slip Laminate flooring and non-slip lino in the messy play area.
